This is my last post of 2014, which isn't saying much because I rarely update this blog. But I should update more. I do little things all over the place that you may want to check out, and if you're not my friend on Facebook, you'd have no way of knowing it.

So here's what's been going on with me over the past two weeks, for your entertainment pleasure:

1. Another guest appearance on Jeremy Maddux's podcast Surreal Sermons. It's not an interview or anything like that. We basically just argue with each other for the first five minutes of the show after he found out I rejected his 'Pinata story' from Rooster Republic Press.

2. Speaking of Rooster Republic Press, they had me on as the contestant for the third episode of their bad game show, aptly called The Bad Game Show. Other guests included Justin Grimbol and Michael Allen Rose. It's basically 20 minutes of nonstop sexual confession. Those two guys are perverted as FUCK! Link here just in case the embedded video below doesn't work.

3. Lastly, Lady Terminator herself, my good friend Erika Instead, let me do a guest blog post on her B-movie blog she does for Living Dead Magazine. We watched a movie called Mutantis and it's pretty much exactly what you'd be a movie called Mutantis to be about. It's a funny blog for often-overlooked movies.

And I believe last post I said I was gonna start sticking recommendations in with each post? Did I say that? Well, regardless, I'm  going to. And my first recommendation is going to be of Michael Allen Rose's band Flood Damage. They're an industrial rock band from Chicago and they KICK-ASS. I wrote a review for their new album Instruction for the Assembly of God(s) and since there's like NOWHERE GOOD to stick a goddamn music review other than iTunes, I'm gonna copy and paste it right here:

Spooky. Kooky. All together ooky.

This is FUN music. A pop-industrial album that is gritty enough to grind you to pieces in its mechanical jaws, yet catchy enough to make you want to nod your head to the beat while you’re getting eaten alive.

Yes, this is a robot dance party hosted by the Devil and attended exclusively by a bunch of sexy, tattooed chicks all lezzing out on each other. You know what I mean?

You don’t?

Look, is there an accurate way to describe music without sound trite or derivative? People always do that "well it kinda sounds like" thing when they talk about bands: Well it kinda sounds like Ministry. Well it kinda sounds like Skinny Puppy. Well it kinda sounds like Frank Sinatra if he were a possessed blender on a mission to have sex with every appliance in the world. But what does any of that even MEAN?

I like the kind of music that paints pictures. Lyrical content aside, I dig sounds. Atmospheres. That intangible part of a song that hits you somewhere deep. The way words in a book build a world in your head, a good song, or album, can do the same. And this album certainly does just that! At times it’s like the soundtrack to some crazy supernatural slasher movie. At other times, it might be what the DJ is spinning at a vampire dance club blood orgy, like that awesome scene in Blade 2. At other points it strikes like lightning out of a matte silver cloud. And still at other points it lumbers along like a blind giant’s feet, stomping across the dirty landscape of a coal-stained city plucked straight out of some reimagined Victorian distopia. That’s what I was SEEING in my mind while I listened to Instructions for the Assembly of God(s). That's what these sounds gave me. But even with all the ATMOSPHERE that this music brings, you won’t find any lithe ambient noises tiptoeing around like a curious caterpillar. It’s not THAT kind of atmosphere I'm talking about! Instead you'll get only loud, crunchy guitars and heart-attack fast drums and ethereal, ghostly vocals the stalk you like a jilted wind. These aren’t lullabies to put you to sleep. This stuff will get you moving. Bobbing your head. Punching your mom. This album ROCKS.

Standout track: SeXXXee (is this a George Michael homage?!)

That is all for now, person who decided to actually read all this shit and maybe click a few links. Have a great day. Enjoy life. Enjoy pizza.

New Flash Fiction and a New Audio Interview!

Hi fuckers!

That wasn't nice. I didn't mean to call you fuckers. I love you guys.

Here's some updates:

New (free) flash fiction available at Bizarro Central. It's called AN ALPHABETICAL LIST OF EVERY WOMAN I'VE EVER SLEPT WITH. It's exactly what it sounds like. Or is it? Click the link.

Also, I did an interview with my Stranger Danger buddy Kevin Strange for Adam Millard's new radio show Bizarro UK:

That's about that for current updates.

I've been toying with the idea of actually staying up to date with this thing. Maybe doing a weekly update. Just letting everyone know what I've been up to and what cool shit some of my writer friends are up to that you might want to check out. As it is, I've just been using this blog as a 'link dump' to keep track of all my shit I've put out there in the world. What do you people think? Should I update this thing more? Does anyone even read this? Do you want to see my dick?

Other than that,

~ Danger

A Few Updates! Hooray!

Man, I don't update this thing enough. Blogging is kind of annoying. Especially adding all the links. And this post is gonna be fucking FULL of links.

Here's a few things that have been going on over the past couple of months:

1. I was a guest on 'The Bad Game Show' along with Tiffany Scandal and Don Noble. The Bad Game Show is Rooster Republic Press's answer to To Tell The Truth. It was a lot of fun, and it certainly lived up to its name. It's a giant mess. View it on youtube HERE.

2. Speaking of youtube: I started my own youtube show called Trying to Remember Movies with Danger_Slater. The premise is that I try to recall everything I can about movies that I haven't seen in over a decade. What I learned is that I can talk for a really long time about things I have no authority on. Watch TRYING TO REMEMBER MOVIES here.

3. My novella ROADVOLUTION, which was my contributed half to my last book STRANGER DANGER has now been released on it's own. So, if you hate Kevin Strange, but love me, pick up ROADVOLUTION in ebook or paperback formats. The same goes for Kevin Strange's contribution COMPUTERFACE. Or, ya know, just buy STRANGER DANGER and get more bang for your buck.

4. Be sure to check out Erika Instead's exploitation/b-movie blog Lady Terminator.

I'm sure I'm forgetting stuff. But I suppose that's all for now.

Until next time, Dangerlings,

~ D!

More Shit Coming Your Way!

PART ONE - New Flash Fiction

Yes, I have new flash fiction up at Bizarro Central. This story is called THE VERSION OF 'PINOCCHIO' WHERE PINOCCHIO HAS A DICK FOR A NOSE. And although the story is about Pinocchio having a dick for a nose, it's also a meta-meditation on what it means to create the kinds of stories in which things like Pinocchio having a dick for a nose happens.

PART TWO - New Interview

Another monolithic youtube interview with the one and only Kevin Strange. This time, I'm sober! Actually, if you have some time to spare, it's pretty in depth. Kevin traces my entire career path, from wanting to write as a kid, until today, on the precipice of my THIRD BOOK being released. It's been an interesting journey, to be sure.

PART THREE - Texas Frightmare Weekend

Last weekend I got to hang out with my Rooster Republic Press family at Texas Frightmare Weekend. It was amazing time, full of drunken debauchery, horror movie icons, karaoke and literature. I love everyone I met. Read Arthur Graham's brief write-up on Goodreads and hear about a 10th of the insanity that actually transpired. Plus we managed to sell a few copies of DangerRAMA.

PART FOUR - New Book

That is all,

New Book Announced, New Short Story Published, New Interview...Interviewed?

How goes it, Dangerlings?

Man, it's been a busy few weeks for me. Writing-wise, at least. And I haven't updated this blog thingeroo so I'm cramming it all into one information-packed post. THE POST YOU'RE READING RIGHT NOW! Let me quit jabbering and start with the news:

Here's the info on that so far:
1. It's called Stranger Danger.
2. It contains two novellas, one by Kevin Strange and one from myself (hence the title).
3. My novella is called Roadvolution, and it's fucking awesome.
4. It's coming out through Strangehouse Books.
5. It'll be released in late-April/early-May. No exact date yet, but stay tuned for details.

Since we're on the subject of Stranger Danger, this past Saturday Kevin and I did a live drunken AMA on youtube, hosted by the one and only Fabulous Raye. It was a total shitshow. I was drunk before we started and hammered by the end. But if you want more info on Stranger Danger, or are a masochist, you can view all two hours of that nonsense right here:

I have a new short story out! And it's free on the interwebs for you to read. It's called THEY CALL HIM BIGFOOT AVERT YOUR EYES NO AUTOGRAPHS PLEASE. You can find that at my all-time favorite online lit-mag Jersey Devil Press. I had submitted that story for a special issue for JDP founder Eirik Gumeny who is currently awaiting a lung transplant. It's sort of a benefit issue, not only to honor Eirik himself, but to help raise the funds he needs to pay for the operation and the aftercare. So, if you're the type of person who wants to help out a good friend and great writer, consider donating HERE to his COTA fundraiser. Seriously. Give. I'm not saying hand him your first born, but every little bit helps.

[Speaking of Eirik, he's got a new book out too! The THIRD novel in his hilariously inappropriate Exponential Apocalypse series, called HIGH VOLTAGE. You'd be a dumb dummy if you don't pick up a copy of this motherfucker's book this very instant!]

OKAY - that's about it, I think. A lot of info thrown at you and I don't feel like recapping it all, so if you do want a recap, just scroll back up to the top of this page and read the post all over again. Just click on all the links I dropped, okay? That's what's important here.

Anyway, Dangerlings, thank you, as always, for reading. I love each and every one of you more than you know.

Let's get down to brass tacks here, people:

First up, my story "My Tapir" has been published in the fourth edition of Rooster Republic Press's flagship anthology Tall Tales with Short Cocks.
